CAD Q & A
1. Where will the box alarms reside? The box alarms, which will be called “Response Plans”, will reside in the new CAD system.  The submittal process will be the same.  There will be changes that we be provided to each agency on how the new “Response Plan” works.
2. AVL is that a roof mount or a radio component? There is a GPS component that is part of the antenna and works in conjunction with the new mobile data radio equipment.
3. Will AVL be able to monitor speed as well as location? Yes
4. Will AVL provide a vehicle history? Playback files are stored on the server and contain the coordinates of each unit for each cycle. Tracker Playback can be used to replay the movements of a specific unit.
5. Will any of the current box alarms be transferable? Due to the changes in how box alarm (Response Plans) are going to be done we are asking all agencies to submit new Response Plans.  We will provide agencies with the new format starting in November.  We will be working with the agencies to help them complete there new Response Plans.  We are requesting all new plans be submitted prior to April 1, 2007.
6. Will CAD have the Village water Systems? We are currently working with all the water departments within Onondaga County to obtain information on their water systems.
7. Will CAD have fill sites for drafting or will the agencies input that into RMS and CAD pull that information via an inquiry? We will add this to the box alarm packet when we start doing the new response plans.  If possible we will ask agencies to get as exact as possible with location information including GPS coordinates if they have that capability.
8. Will we be able to review the water maps prior to them being inputted for accuracy? At this time the maps are being provided by each water department to 911.  They will be converted to the map.  After we go live if any agency finds a problem with location of a hydrant or data concerning that hydrant they will be able to notify the 911 center to have it corrected.  We also encourage departments if they have the resources to GPS each hydrant put the information into a spreadsheet and we can use that information on the map to help maintain the accuracy.
9. How will the system work for out of county departments? Any department where their main station is in another county will not be considered but will be able to make their own purchases if they wish.
10. Once the system goes live will we be locked out or be able to add equipment onto the system at any time? You will be able to add equipment onto the system at any time.
11. What is the total cost of the project? The county legislators approved $ 9.8 million, $ 3,465,000.00 that we received from a grant.
12. Is there redundancy within the system? Yes there will be servers for all the systems located at the 911 center and the Civic center.  If one system fails the other will pickup.
13. What type of security systems for the CAD? The CAD systems have several security features through the CAD system and the County network.
